RACE TIME

7:45 a.m., November 15, 2014

Early Bird Start Time :  7:15 a.m.

Remember – If you feel like you will need an extra 30 minutes for either the full or half marathons, we will have a special 7:15 start time.  However, those starting at 7:15 are NOT eligible for awards.  This start is designed for the “power” walker, with an average pace of 13:45 – 14:45 per mile.

We are now accepting registration for the 2014 Novant Health Thunder Road Marathon .  All mail must be post-marked by Friday, November 7, 2014 and ONLINE registration for the 2014 event closes on Sunday, November 9 at midnight.

Remember, there will  be NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION OR PACKET PICK-UP for any of the events.  All mail applications must be Postmarked by Friday, November 7, 2014. ONLINE registration for the 2014 event closes on Sunday, November 9 at midnight.

PACE GROUPS

Shooting for a PR or that Boston qualifier?  Look for the Endurance Magazine Pace Team Leaders at the marathon start line!  Pace Team Leaders will be holding signs indicating their predicted finish times. Line up with them, and get ready to reach your goal! Charlotte’s Novant Health Thunder Road Marathon features pace teams with finish times from 3 hours to 5 ½ hours, so there’s something for everyone.   Pace groups include 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00, 5:30. You do not have to sign up to run with a pace group. Just line up with us and go!

The Novant Health Thunder Road Marathon is a Boston Marathon Qualifier. 

The Marathon course has a 6-hour time limit. Runners who cannot maintain a 13:45 per mile pace will be asked to leave the course for their own safety.

Pit Stops will close and volunteers and police officers at intersections will not be available to participants who fall below the 13:45 per mile pace. This will be strictly enforced.

AWARDS

The below categories will be awarded at the Novant Health Thunder Road Marathon award ceremony taking place at 12:00pm on the main stage in the post-race party area.
•Top 5 Overall Men and Women
•Top 5 Masters Men and Women
•Top 3 Age Group for Men and Women
•24 & under, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over


REFRESHMENTS AND PORTA-JONS

There will be 13 Pit Stops  for the marathoners, located approximately Miles 1.6, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 and 25.

Porta-Jons will be available every mile.
