Timing and Scoring:

Timing and scoring will be done with ChampionChip Technology. Each runner must pick up his or her chip at the Thunder Road Marathon Health & Wellness Expo presented by Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital on Friday, December 11 or Saturday, December 12.  Runners who do not turn in their chips at the conclusion of their race will be assessed a $10 fee. (The event has the right to charge your credit card for this fee.)

Timing mats will be located at the start, 10K mark, 13.1 mile mark, 20 mile mark and the finish. Runners who do not register a split time at one of the checkpoints will be subject to disqualification.

SMARTBOX of Charlotte Pit Stops

Dasani Water and Powerade ION will be available at the following places along the course: Mile 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 23.5, and 25.

Gel will be provided at mile markers 16 and 20.

And perhaps for some, most importantly, portable restrooms will be stationed at the water stations, about every two miles along the course.
