Online Registration has been CLOSED for Charlotte’s
Thunder Road Marathon, Amica Insurance Half Marathon
and the Presbyterian Hospital Jingle Jog 5K. If
you are looking to register, please visit us on Friday,
December 11th from 11am-9pm at the Thunder Road Marathon
Health and Wellness Expo Presented by Presbyterian
Orhopaedic Hospital (located at Charlotte’s
Convention Center).
NEW START TIME:
The
start times for the Thunder Road Marathon and Amica
Insurance Half Marathon have been bumped up ten minutes. Both
races will now start at 7:50am. The
new start time for the Presbyterian Hospital
Jingle Jog 5K is 8:20.
IF YOU NEED TO SWITCH RACES...
If you are wanting to switch races - all switches
must be received by Friday, November 27th by midnight. After
that point, we will still accept switches but must
be done at the Health & Fitness EXPO on Friday,
December 11th from 11am - 9pm. Please visit
the Walk-up Registration desk for this service. Do
note - you will not be guaranteed a race shirt into
the new races you are moving into.

Hal Higdon is ready to help you train for Charlotte's Thunder
Road Marathon! Higdon, the best-selling author of Marathon:
The Ultimate Training Guide and a contributing editor
to Runner’s World magazine,
estimates that he has helped more than a quarter million
runners run their best races.
Whether novice, intermediate
or advanced runner, Higdon has designed marathon, 1/2 marathon,
and 5k training programs to get you to the finish line in
a Personal Best time. Higdon’s 8 to 18 week interactive
programs specific to the races of this year's Thunder Road
Marathon are available through TrainingPeaks. Click

Timing and Scoring:
Timing
and scoring will be done with ChampionChip Technology.
Each runner must pick up his or her chip at the Thunder
Road Marathon Health & Wellness Expo presented by Presbyterian
Orthopaedic Hospital on Friday, December 11 or Saturday,
December 12. Runners who do not turn in their chips
at the conclusion of their race will be assessed a $10
fee. (The event has the right to charge your credit card
for this fee.)
Timing mats will be located at the start,
10K mark, 13.1 mile mark, 20 mile mark and the finish.
Runners who do not register a split time at one of the
checkpoints will be subject to disqualification.

and Powerade ION will be available at the following places along the course:
Mile 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 23.5, and 25.
Gel will be provided at mile markers 16 and 20.
And perhaps for some, most importantly, portable restrooms will be stationed at the water stations, about every two miles along the course.

Pace Teams
Endurance Magazine Pace Teams
Charlotte’s Thunder Road Marathon will offer Endurance Magazine Pace Teams to help you run your best marathon! Pace Teams are available at the following times: 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, and 5:00.

Participating in a Pace Team is FREE
and open to all runners. Endurance Magazine Pace
Team leaders will run even splits to get you to the finish
at your goal time. Simply
sign up at the Endurance Magazine Pace Team booth at the Thunder
Road Marathon Health & Wellness Expo presented by Presbyterian
Orthopaedic Hospital. On race day,
go to the start area 15 - 25 minutes early to find your team
and meet your Pace Team leaders.
If you begin to struggle . . .
Should you feel like you cannot finish or need assistance, there will be a sag wagon availble to assist you.
There will be trained medical personnel available to aid runners who need attention.

Time Limits
The marathon has a 6-hour time limit and the Amica Insurance Half Marathon has a 3 hour time limit. Runners who cannot maintain a 13:45 per mile pace will be asked to leave the course for their own safety.
Pit Stops will close and volunteers and police officers at intersections will not be available to participants who fall below the 13:45 per mile pace. This will be strictly enforced.

Bag Check
Bag check is available for Marathoners
and Half Marathoners. Look for us in the Charlotte
Convention Center where we will collect your extra running
gear and have it ready for you after your race…hassle
free.
